Hypnotism is a highly disputed phenomenon that has been around for a long time. It can be used to help someone to stop destructive behavior, such as smoking or overeating. Or, hypnosis could be used simply to help one to relax. Whatever hypnosis is used for, how does hypnosis work is one of the most common questions that is asked when people are considering whether or not to undergo hypnosis. There are various theories about how does hypnosis work, and some are more commonly accepted than others. Finding out how does hypnosis work will allow anyone considering hypnosis to make a more educated decision about whether or not they wish to undergo the process.

The Four States of Mind

One of the most commonly accepted explanations for how does hypnosis work involves the physiological definitions of hypnosis. Through research, scientists have identified four brain wave patterns: the Alpha state, the Beta state, the Theta state, and the Delta state. These states of the brain are associated with different activities and activity levels. The alpha state is the relaxed or reflecting state, the beta state is the alert or working state, the theta state is the drowsy state, and the delta state is the sleeping, dreaming, and deep sleep state.

The Alpha And Theta State Theory

So now that you know about the four different states of mind, how does that help you to know how does hypnosis work? Well, scientists have determined that, when the brain is in the alpha state, it can be directed to make improvements in issues such as smoking and weight loss. Similarly, scientists have identified that it is necessary for therapeutic change, such as surgery and pain sensitivity. Thus, hypnosis generally works by guiding the patients to the alpha and theta states of mind. When a patient is in on of these states of mind, the hypnotist then makes suggestions that inspires the patient to complete tasks and make life improvements.

Other Theories

The state of mind theory is not the only theory that is used to explain how does hypnosis work. Other theories have been developed over the years, and some are more accepted than others. Other commonly accepted theories include: the role playing theory, the disassociation theory, the non disassociation theory, the neuropsychological theory, the hyper-suggestibility theory, the informational theory, and the systems theory.

When you think of hypnosis, it seems easy enough. You dangle a charm in front of someone’s eyes and speak softly, telling them they’re getting sleepy and, pretty soon, they’re under and you have free reign over their subconscious. You can make them bark like a dog, cluck like a chicken or you can even make them get up and dance ballet. However, hypnosis is a lot more complicated than that. It takes a professional to put someone in a truly hypnotized state. Hypnosis should only be handled by a professional, too, because a hypnotist has a lot of power over a hypnotized person. A hypnotist could potentially abuse that power and, for this reason, the power should be handled only by an ethical professional. If you’re going to learn hypnosis, make sure you keep this in mind every time you put someone in a relaxed state. You should use hypnosis to help people, not to harm them.

Hypnosis Schools

To learn hypnosis, you have several options. The best, of course, is to attend a hypnosis school. A hypnosis school allows you to learn the ropes of hypnosis in an academic setting. You will participate in examples and you will witness actual hypnosis sessions. This allows you to overcome any issues you may have as well as the benefit of watching experienced hypnotists in action. By the time you graduate, you will be a certified hypnotist, having learned hypnosis from the best.

Another way to learn hypnosis is to read up on the subject. There are many books on the subject and they should help you at least learn the basics of hypnosis. They won’t give you the benefit of hearing from an actual hypnotist, in person that is, and this can make the difference between the right and wrong technique.

You could, of course, ask a local hypnotist to help you learn hypnosis. Ask them if they recommend any tips or tricks. They hypnotist will undoubtedly tell you to be careful, as hypnotists have a lot of power over their subjects. They will probably ask what you intend to use hypnosis for and who you plan to use it on. If you can’t come up with a good answer, or an answer they approve of, many accredited hypnotists won’t help you learn hypnosis, as you may give them a bad name, especially if you live in a small town.

The best way to learn hypnosis is to educate yourself as much as possible on the subject. Only then can you effectively put someone in a relaxed state to help them with whatever they need help with. If you’re going to learn hypnosis, just make sure that you use the new power you have responsibly as the subconscious mind is nothing to tinker with, especially for your own amusement.

A self hypnosis technique is used to induce oneself into a state of hypnosis, usually with aid of an audio program or a series of steps to stimulate the state of hypnosis, whereby positive suggestion becomes easily accepted by the subconscious mind and the conscious does not interfere.

The self hypnosis technique covered in this article will be the one which several steps are used to slow down the brain waves and this will help our minds to accept whatever information we feed into it. This self hypnosis technique is highly effective at revolutionizing our lives as it creates positive beliefs and leads to constructive actions to achieve our goals.

So let’s move on to the steps of this self hypnosis technique…

So what we do is firstly lay down in a comfortable position as this self hypnosis technique requires deep relaxation. Next, roll your eyes up and inward a little, as if you’re trying to see something in the center of your forehead. Hold your eyes in that position and take five deep slow breaths in and out, and focus your entire conscious mind on hearing those breaths and being totally aware of them. Now your brain waves will have changed from BETA to ALPHA and your will be very relaxed. At this point of the self hypnosis technique you should think about a goal that you must achieve. Picture it in your mind as if it has already happened and make it seem as real as possible to your subconscious mind.

This self hypnosis technique will cause the things your imagine in this self hypnosis technique so fuse with reality, because your subconscious mind cannot tell the difference between real and imagined, so it will gradually move you towards what it thinks your already have.

This self hypnosis technique is highly effective if repeated daily, over a period of a few weeks you will begin to notice a remarkable change. If you read a lot of motivational materials, you will find that this self hypnosis technique is used by a large proportion of exceptionally successful people, and the results can be easily seen in their lives, so the same results will be achievable in yours too.

So you want to learn how to hypnotize people?.. Well it’s not as hard as it might seem to be. Most people think you need to study and train for years to have the ability to hypnotize people. However the truth is, that there are many different forms and levels of hypnosis. If you want to perform certain types of advanced hypnosis, like getting people to hallucinate or do anything you tell them to, then you will most likely be on quite a long quest to achieve that goal. But if you want to carry out more basic types of hypnosis to hypnotize people, like helping someone to get rid of a bad habit, then it is very possible to learn without years of difficult study…

To hypnotize people, you must get them into a relaxed state of mind, where their thoughts flow freely and their mind is at ease. In this state they will become more accepting of suggestions, and anything the hypnotist says will appear to be very wise and sensible, so they will act upon it subconsciously. With this technique, it is possible to hypnotize people to change area’s of their life which they may struggle in, such as dieting or sticking to a scheduled exercise regimen.

This is just one way to hypnotize people. Another is with covert hypnosis which is also quite simple, but does take sufficient practice. To hypnotize people with this form of hypnosis, you must be very subtle in your movements. The concept is to literally mimic what your target does, so that in their subconscious mind they think that you are the same person as them and therefore they will like you. If you hypnotize people with this method, it will make any idea’s or propositions you have seem a lot more sensible and their inclination to agree will be greatly increased..

These are two basic forms of hypnosis which will give you the ability to easily hypnotize people. Learn more about each form with other more specific, detailed articles. The ability to hypnotize people is one of my most valued assets and I’m sure it will benefit you too.

So, you want to learn how to hypnotize someone? Maybe you want them to perform you evil bidding, change an inhibiting behaviour of theirs, or you just want the coolest party trick ever..

It’s not that difficult to hypnotize someone if you first understand what hypnotism really is. First let’s go over what hypnotism isn’t. It isn’t making people become zombies with the use of a pocket watch, repeating the phrase ‘you are getting verrry sleeeeepy’. It isn’t, making them think they are a chicken or Elvis or anything else like that, however it can be. Lastly, people do not have superhuman powers or anything of the sort when they are under hypnosis, they have all the same abilities they would if they were awake, and their normal selves.

Hypnosis can however have some pretty crazy outcomes. It can help someone to get rid of a bad habit that they wouldn’t normally have the power to do, like quitting smoking. It can help to change associations of people so that their lives become more focused and they are more motivated to achieve their goals, and it can help to relieve many mental imbalances, like those in patients with depression or anorexia. Hypnosis is a state of conscience where the hypnotist opens the subjects mind for suggestions. The subject is deeply relaxed is very willing to listen to anything you say, and be in total agreement. Often times, the patient does not even know they are in a trance, because they can still hear, and sense everything around them. It is easier for the hypnotist to put a very willing and non judgmental subject under hypnosis, rather than someone who is a total skeptic and feels like they are wasting their time.

The process of hypnosis is actually not that hard. It begins with making the subject become relaxed. Every muscle in their body must be at ease and their thoughts should be steady and slow, which usually takes anywhere from 20 to 45 minutes. After this ‘setup’ stage is complete, the suggestions can begin. In this stage the hypnotist can suggest things to the patient that they will hear and will be programmed into their subconscious mind, like ‘You hate smoking’. Suggestions like this will go on for about 10 to 15 minutes and then the subject should be brought back out of the trance with a backwards count from five, when the count reaches one, they should be fully awake and alert. It might take a couple of session to alter a deeply engrained behaviour, in some cases even ten or more, but it is always possible to change…

The skill of being able to hypnotize someone is a very valuable asset indeed. To have the ability to hypnotize someone is priceless, it can be used beneficially in so many situations. From being able to eliminate people’s bad habits, give them new good habits, to just plain fun party tricks like making people forget their own name! If you want to know how to hypnotize someone then you are not alone in your mission and you can do it easily with just a little bit of knowledge and practice.

So how do you actually hypnotize someone?

It’s not actually that hard, depending on what your definition of having someone hypnotized is. It’s quite simple to put them into a state of hypnosis where they can still hear and are aware of everything around them, usually the subject doesn’t even think they are in a trance. In this state you can suggest things to their subconscious mind and have them accept it quite easily.

The first step to being able to hypnotize someone is to put them into a very relaxed state. You may have heard CD’s or seen someone putting a subject into this state before. The hypnotist simply starts the session with something like this – Take a deep breath in then close your eyes as you exhale slowly and relax, relax, relax. Relax your body to an extreme state of relaxation. Every muscle in your body is relaxing. Feel you your facial muscles become warm and loose. Your eye lids are very heavy and if you try and open them they will become more and more heavy. Feel your neck and shoulders relax. Feel the weight in your arms, focus on the immense weight you have never realized before…. Etc, working all the way down the body, to the toes. To hypnotize someone fully, they must be extremely relaxed, this usually takes about 10 to 15 minutes, but sometimes more with very tense or negative people.

The next step to hypnotize someone is to suggest something to them. Maybe the reason for the session is to help them to stop smoking. So you would suggest things like, ‘you find smoking filthy and repulsive’ and ‘the smell of cigarette smoke makes you feel physically ill’ for example. There is many things you could say, but firstly when you hypnotize someone make them attach pain to doing the behaviour, and then attach pleasure to not doing it. For the smoking example something like, ‘you feel fit and energized when you don’t smoke’ and ‘you are overjoyed at the thought of living longer due do better health’.

When you hypnotize someone you have to bring them out of the trance at the end of the session. To do this just say something like this, ‘I am going to count back from five, every number close to one, you will feel more and more awake. When I reach one you will be wide awake and fully alert and energized… five… waking up… four’ etc. Then by one the subject should be wide awake. This method of hypnotizing is very effective and becomes better every time with practice.

If you would like to learn more about being able to hypnotize someone, then this is in my opinion the holy grail of hypnotism, you will be amazed by how well this works. Check it out at Underground Hypnosis – Email me and let me know how well it works for you.

NLP therapy is of a form of psychotherapy which draws on NLP techniques. Psychotherapists trained in these NLP techniques, are also trained in several other areas like cognitive therapy, and will draw from this as required. People come to these psychotherapists to change or ‘fix’ some area of their lives and the therapists use an NLP technique or several techniques to help them modify their internal language, so that they can reprogram the patient with more useful and productive internal motives…

The meta-model NLP technique is a set of specifying questions or language patterns designed to challenge and expand them limits to a person’s model of the world. This NLP technique is based on detecting the distortions, deletions and generalizations in the patient’s language. The NLP technique endeavors to pinpoint the reasons why something is bad in the patient, and then to change that meaning.

For example an NLP technique for a person with post traumatic stress disorder – the person might be saying something like ‘why did this happen to me?’. It is the psychotherapists job to find out what the patient’s meaning of ‘this’ is, and why it is so toxic to their mental state at the present time, then to the employ the NLP technique to alter the meaning of the event so that it is something more logical and manageable to the patient. In the patients mind, they might think that they caused the death of a loved one because they told them to go and get milk from the supermarket, and the person died in a car accident on the way there. This type of thinking is highly toxic and using the NLP technique the therapist should attempt to change it to something like – your husband died in a car accident which was in no way your fault, you can’t beat fate…

This NLP technique is highly valuable to any psychotherapist, but can also be beneficial to everyone who is interested in helping others or themselves. This is not the only NLP technique out there, many others do exist, and they are as valuable, of not more that this NLP technique. If you would like to learn more about any NLP technique then try this site, it helped me a lot.
