Mandrake the magician waves his hands and the guns in the hands of the big bad men turn into sticks. This is what hypnotism brings to mind in most people.

Hypnosis is a technique used to influence and induce a person by means of actions, words and visuals to do what he normally would not.

Conversational hypnosis is different from conventional hypnosis. Here instead of bringing the person to a trance like state, the hypnotist strikes up a simple conversation with the subject and influences the person without his knowledge. This helps to overcome any resistance to hypnotism the subject may have. This type of hypnotism is also called covert hypnotism as it is done covertly with the subject not being any wiser.

Conversational hypnosis uses specific patterns and techniques in language and suggestions to interact with the subject and find a solution to the problem being faced.  Here the subject need not be aware about bring influenced. The hypnotist using specific language patterns delves into the sub conscious of the subject without making him unconscious or fall into a trance like state.

There are three stages in conversational hypnotism. In the first stage the hypnotist builds a rapport with the person being induced. He does this by simply agreeing with whatever the person says. By empathizing he makes the client comfortable and instills confidence in himself.

The next stage is to confuse or distract the subject. With an absurd question or statement he removes the problems temporarily from the mind of his subject. This makes the client responsive to him because his subconscious is now very receptive.

The third stage is to put a proposition or suggestion which can be a solution to the problem. The hypnotist gently guides him towards the alternative with the suggestion. This helps the client to deal with the problem positively. There is a lot of power in suggestions when the recipient is in a receptive state of mind.

Conversational hypnotism is commonly employed by self help gurus and unfortunately, also by con men. But since this is usually practiced on a group rather than one to one, it is not very successful for a long period and the listener reverts back to his previous behavior. For it to be successful and bring about permanent behavioral changes the sessions should be one to one. Also it does not really work on unsure and unconfident people. It works more easily on employees rather than employers.

It is a painless and easy technique which can be used as a treatment of various disorders and behavioral problems without any side effect.

Hypnosis show can be termed as the entertainment part of hypnosis. It is also known as stage hypnosis. It is generally considered an art form than a therapy used to alter the behavioral pattern of an individual. And for this reason the impact and influence of this type of shows will not last in the mind of a person once the show is over.

The success of a hypnotist while performing his skill publicly depends on how wise he is in choosing his subject. He should be extremely careful while selecting people from audience to put into a trance state of mind. In this state of mind he will be able to plant suggestions in the mind of the person under hypnotic sleep.

Like any other hypnotic therapy, a public hypnosis show also need total cooperation from the part of the individual who is going to be hypnotized by the hypnotist. A typical hypnotic stage performance will normally start with the hypnotist asking the viewers to close their eyes and to listen to what he is saying. This process known as induction is the most crucial session of any hypnotic public performance. The very intention behind this command from the part of the hypnotist is to find out the persons who are susceptible to the commands of the hypnotist. This stage will help him to find out the volunteers to be participated in the show.

A person who does not want to participate in the hypnosis show can do it by simply resisting the commands of the hypnotist.  A person sitting very alert in the audience will never be selected as a volunteer by the performer. The willingness to participate in the activities of the performer itself will act as an indication of the susceptibility of the person for the hypnotist.

The stage performance of the hypnotists will start by calling volunteers from the audience to participate in the stage performance.  A performer will normally use carefully selected terms in this initial call of volunteers. The techniques normally be adopted by the performers include arrange less number of chairs in the stage than the number of volunteers required. Such techniques will help to create a competition among the audience to participate in the show.

The hypnosis show will make the volunteers to act in funny ways according to the commands from the performer. They will be made to believe that they are drunk, as an alien who speaks strange language or any thing funny. Normally these suggestions from the performer will not last beyond the time of the hypnosis show.

Stage hypnosis is also known as entertainment hypnosis; many willing participants are brought on stage and given specific instructions and commands which trigger the minds natural hypnotic response. These participants are often given tasks to complete for entertainment purposes only, and then are told to come out of the state, these people may or may or may not remember what went on.

People are susceptible to stage hypnosis because they want to be, these people often volunteer for the opportunity to be hypnotized in front of people. The person performing the stage hypnosis will often employ a rapid trigger method of hypnosis; by giving short direct commands to the individual they are able to access the subconscious mind quickly and with out much resistance, especially since the person volunteered and wants to be hypnotized.

Another factor to consider is the fact that many people are very susceptible to peer-pressure, and as such may feel even more compelled to follow the entertainer’s suggestions as they feel that is what is expected out of them. This can make accessing the subject’s subconscious mind even easier for the entertainer, and is probably why entertainers often like use stage hypnosis in groups.

Magicians often use stage hypnosis to thrill and amaze their audience, they will use the power of suggestion to convince certain audience members to act a certain way or visualize a certain number to make their tricks seem more real. Some magicians are so good at this, that they are able to hypnotize entire rooms of people at once; using subliminal messaging along with the rapid hypnotism technique is one way magicians can achieve this effect.

People have tried to understand hypnotism since the 1700’s, and even at this time stage hypnosis was sometimes used to entertain at parties. Many people think that this kind of stage hypnosis is mind control; this is not true, the person performing the hypnotism has simply accessed the brain on a subconscious level, and has made influential suggestions, which in turn brought about a specific reaction.

The fact that modern society induces hypnosis so often by watching lots of movies and television, may contribute to the success of entertainer’s ability to perform stage hypnosis; as people are accustomed to letting their conscious minds take a side seat to be absorbed in something else that they find entertaining. Meditation and therapeutic hypnosis can also be more easily achieved do to this fact, though many people do find it difficult to relax enough without the focus of a television or book.

Many people use NLP techniques in coaching these days and with very good results. Let’s take a look at how using NLP in coaching can help you.

One NLP technique is ‘Perceptual Positions’. This technique is geared to looking at a situation from more than one perspective. A situation is always looked at differently by different people, so to learn to be able to look at a situation from other perspectives can be very beneficial. NLP teaches you to look at a situation from:

• Your own perspective
• The other persons perspective
• An outsiders perspective or a neutral persons perspective

By looking at a situation from other perspectives you can gain more insight into the situation which can enable you to influence what is happening. Also by seeing a situation from someone else’s perspective then a situation may not seem as bad as if you saw it only from your own perspective.

Perceptual position techniques can be used in business coaching by teaching your staff members to look at their work and assignments from different perspectives.

An employee working on an assignment will be able to do a much more effective job on the assignment if they sit back first and look at other perspectives. This way they will know what is expected of them from perhaps the boss’s perspective, also what is expected of them from the company perspective and of course what they can achieve from their own perspective.

This skill can increase the skills needed for the assignment and produce a better outcome.

NLP can also be used in coaching in sports. One big belief in NLP is that anyone can do whatever they want to do and the techniques teach you how to do the things you want.

This is important for a sports person to believe that they can be the best at their sport to perform extremely well. NLP techniques can help an average sports person to become a top performing sports person in their particular sport.

NLP also teaches how to model excellence so you can learn the skills used by top performers to become a top performer yourself. Many organisations of business and sport use the modelling techniques to identify what sets the top performers apart from the average performers and teaches the average performers these techniques to improve their performance.

Any great sports person has a coach, but if you want to improve your skills fast and effectively then you may want to consider using an NLP coach.

Hypnotism basically is the scientific and clinical use of hypnosis. Hypnosis, or a hypnotic state, is a temporary condition of altered attention in an individual. A hypnotist is a person who uses hypnotism. Scientific evidence suggests that hypnotism is useful when it is practiced by qualified professionals. For example, some professionals use hypnotism to treat patients who have certain medical or psychological problems.

People have used hypnotic techniques since ancient times. But the practice of hypnotism has been condemned at times because of its misuse or because of ignorance, mistaken beliefs, and overstated claims. Today, professional organizations accept hypnotism when it is used for valid medical or scientific purposes.

What hypnotism is

Scientists have shown that hypnosis is a natural part of human behaviour that affects psychological, social, and physical experience. There is no magic connected with hypnotism, and the hypnotist has no special power. The effects of hypnotism depend on the willingness and motivation of the person being hypnotized. In hypnosis, a change in the quality and focus of a person’s attention alters his or her internal and external experience.

Hypnotism has been compared to dreaming and sleepwalking. The term hypnosis comes from the Greek word hypnos, which means sleep. However, hypnotism is not actually related to sleep. It involves a more active and intense mental concentration. Hypnotized people can talk, write, and walk about. They are usually fully aware of what is said and done.

A hypnotist uses certain methods to induce (guide) hypnotism in another person. As the person responds to the methods, the person’s state of attention changes. This altered state often leads to various other changes or phenomena. For example, the person may experience different levels of awareness, consciousness, imagination, memory, and reasoning or become more responsive to suggestions. Additional phenomena may be produced or eliminated. Such phenomena may include sensations, blushing, sweating, paralysis, tensing of muscles, and anesthesia (loss of pain sensation). Scientists have shown that changes in almost every body function and system may occur with hypnotism.

None of the experiences of hypnotism are unique. Some or all of the phenomena can occur without the use of hypnotic techniques. For example, people who are very responsive to hypnosis show an increased responsiveness to suggestions before they are hypnotized. This responsiveness increases during hypnotism.

People once believed that hypnotists could force their subjects to perform criminal acts or other actions against the subjects’ will. There is no clear evidence to show that hypnosis causes such behavior. Hypnotized people can and do resist suggestions. They do not lose control of their actions and can distinguish between right and wrong.

Public performances of hypnotism are responsible for many popular misconceptions about hypnosis. Many people are first exposed to hypnotism through a magic show or a film. Such presentations often make hypnotism appear simple. They may tempt untrained people to try to perform hypnotism on themselves or on other people.

Covert hypnosis is an extraordinary skill by using which a person can make another to obey the commands made by him without letting the subject of hypnosis that he is being hypnotized by some a stranger. The person practicing covert hypnosis will be able to communicate to the subconscious mind of the other person without the knowledge of the subject.

Normally the intention of the person performing this type of hypnotic activity will be the change of intended behavior. A person who has expertise in the techniques of covert hypnosis can easily manipulate the decision of a stranger by influencing his decision making process.

Most commonly these techniques are used by sales men while they engage in the process of selling some consumer goods to the clients approaching them. For this they use very carefully selected words and body language with an intention to create in them an interest in the product that he is trying to market. He will make use of intentional gestures and facial expressions while he explains the how good the customer is going to feel once he buy the product in his hand. The subject will remain unaware of the fact that he is being hypnotized by the other person.

One can find a lot of similarities between this kind of hypnotism and indirect hypnotism. It does not require the conscious effort from the part of the subject to cooperate with the hypnotist to bring the result of hypnotism.

The hypnotist takes into confidence his subject through his confident posture, compassionate behavior and positive dialogue. The psychological supremacy over the subject is achieved by the hypnotist indirectly through his conscious speech and gestures. This communication will help the hypnotist to gain the confidence of the listener that will ultimately develop an unconscious neurological coordination between the hypnotist and the subject known as covert conditioning or covert anchoring. This state of mind of the subject will help the hypnotist to dominate the thoughts and behaviors of the subject.

The person practicing these techniques will be able to influence the thoughts of other persons make them agree to his point of view.  By using this method of hypnotism it is easy to make a person obey the commands of the person practicing this technique of hypnotism.  Whether hypnotizing a person without his consent is ethical or not is a question that is yet to be answered. The preachers of covert hypnosis claim that learning these techniques will help a person to bring miraculous changes to the life of the person practicing it.

Are you trying to lose weight with lose weight hypnosis? It has been heard many great things about weight loss by hypnosis, but the question is, will weight loss hypnosis really work?

Lose weight hypnosis has been said to instantly change the way you think and feel about food. Many people have also been smoke free for years because of hypnosis. It is only natural to believe that losing weight by the method of hypnosis would work the same way. Often people may misunderstand hypnosis and think that as soon as they are done they will immediately start eating fruits and vegetables instead of burgers and fries. While this could be the case for some people it may be different for many others.

Lose weight hypnosis was introduced some time ago around the same time that people started using hypnosis to quit smoking. There is proven cases where people have used hypnosis to kick the bad habits. If you are serious about losing weight then you may want to consider lose weight hypnosis.

Weight loss by hypnosis has recently exploded as an effective way to lose weight. Case studies and examples range from an average woman who lost 10 pounds in 2 weeks with almost no effort, to the obese woman who lost nearly an astounding 95 pounds just from using these hypnosis techniques.

Lose weight hypnosis works by using subconscious suggestions. These suggestions can range from making a certain food undesirable, to suggesting to the body’s self-image that you really are a slim person.

While weight loss by hypnosis is a great way to trim the pounds, most hypnotherapists don’t hail it as the end-all-be-all. Effective weight loss by hypnosis is best when taken together with a great diet, an ample amount of water, and good rest. Although hypnosis is a great way to lose weight, having that extra serving of desert after every meal isn’t going to help. Fortunately, hypnosis can help reinforce those behaviors as well. In fact, clients of lose weight hypnosis often report that things just “fall into place.” Their eating patterns naturally changed to a much healthier diet, without mental struggling.

To get started, consider visiting your local hypnotherapist for an introductory session about weight loss by hypnosis. Although this is considerably more expensive than a home study course, you will receive tailored attention to your needs, diet, and habits. For example, if you’ve tried other diets but constantly find yourself quitting halfway through, this may be something that a hypnotherapist could address in person, which couldn’t be covered in a CD or tape. Another example would be if you’re constantly tempted by a specific kind of food, he or she could tailor your sessions to tackling that habit – Again, something that a CD wouldn’t cover. Generally a client can expect permanent weight loss results by about 2 months of once a week visits.

If the cost of going to an in-person hypnotherapist is too expensive, online weight loss by the method of hypnosis CDs may be another cost-effective option. These are pre-recorded CDs designed to subconsciously help you lose weight. Oftentimes they’re not only vocal, but have a hypnotic background designed to put you into trace.

Modern methods have helped scientists increase their understanding of the human mind and body. Hypnosis has made various changes in the modern treatment. Self-hypnosis script is a written data than can be used for self-hypnosis. Now there are various scripts available in market for various purposes including smoking cessation, headaches etc. Certain scripts can be made and recorded individually also. With the help of such a script, one can easily attain positive changes by making life more smooth and easy to handle.

Positive affirmations in such scripts reprogram the subconscious mind in control. Before implementing it is important to practice the script by reading it very slowly that will lead you to a relaxed manner.  After achieving this rapid process you can record it to a device. Later a printed material of this talk will make you easily fall into a deep sleep with a half conscious. Spoken words is most being used as an induction rather than drugs.

The hypnosis script needs a composition of the mater that will be recited to the person. There are many choices of words that have penetrating effect in conveying the ideas. This script must be meaningful with powerful and touching words. The patient should experience a supreme feeling from the beginning until the end. A perfect script should contain all the elements for a complete resonance.

The hypnotic induction concentrates on the inner reality. The script begins with progressive relaxation to stillness. Rhythmic breathing is a vital part of the relaxation. The hypnotist enters into the patient’s inner reality. The patient at a certain stage will be dissociated from the surroundings as the person becomes more suggestible. By raising the level of suggestibility, the most important part in hypnotic induction, the patient is placed imaginatively in a beautiful place induced by the therapist. Later the suggestions are being induced that are the patient’s own inventions. There is a philosophical and behavioral suggestion.

For a smoker the therapist would ideally highlight his family members and through it convey the message of quitting smoking. The hypnotist will also forward hatred into the mind of the patient that after the sleep, the patient will definitely quit smoking.

After all suggestions, the hypnotist has to wind up the session leading the patient to his or her normal thinking. The relaxation time may also be extended for allowing the patient to rest a little more. When the script is complete, it should be recorded and transferred to a CD. Music can be added as background to this script.

Hypnotic therapy is some thing that can be effectively used to control the mind of the person undergoing the hypnotic therapy. Hypnosis mind control techniques are most commonly used to correct the behavioral problem of individuals. It is easy to eradicate the negative thoughts from a person’s mind that lead to behavioral problems by subjecting him to hypnotic therapy. To make it a success the subject or the person undergoing the hypnotic therapy should be extremely cooperative to the person performing the hypnotic therapy or the hypnotist.

Hypnosis mind control is used for both medical and entertainment purpose. It has been proved that hypnosis mind control techniques can bring positive results if used with the medical treatment in patients suffering from alcohol and smoking addiction. It can be used positively to overcome the temptation to go back to the habits by injecting the feeling of aversion towards the bad habit that he has overcome wit the help of medicine.

Not only for quitting the habits like smoking drinking or overeating but also it can be effectively used to control the pain that one feels while he suffers illness similar to cancer and burn wounds. The same techniques are proved to be very effective to reduce the pain that a woman suffers during child birth.

It is the mind control that one can achieve through hypnosis that helps a person to feel less pain than the pain that he is actually suffering. A study conducted by the International Journal of Clinical and Experimental Hypnosis reveals that hypnotic therapy is capable of reducing almost 75% of the pain of the subjects who were cooperating with their study.

Hypnotic therapy as well as self hypnosis is now accepted as an effective tool to put mind under control for those who are not capable of doing so without the help of an external aid. Most commonly it is used by persons who want to quit smoking or drinking habit. For them hypnosis mind control is some thing that can complement the medical treatment that he is undergoing with an intention to relieve him from the habit of excessive drinking or smoking. To quit such habits forever a person should have extreme will power. Hypnosis is used as an effective tool to support these persons to create this will power in them by providing positive suggestions by putting them in hypnotic sleep.

In the same way it is possible to give any person who is willing to undergo a hypnotic therapy to provide with more courage and will power to face any situation that acts as an obstacle to achieve his desires.

The method of inducing the persons by making direct conversation or communication is known as conversational hypnosis. It is proved to be very effective to help the patients to overcome problems such as severe pain and other difficult conditions that a person has to face in his life.

The principles of conversational hypnosis that are quite different from the concept of conventional hypnosis are first conceived by Milton Erickson. According to him the trance state that is a must for hypnosis is not some thing that it can only acquired while the hypnotist and that subject is sitting alone in a room. Men fall in to this trance state of mind several times a day while they concentrate hard on something particular.

According to Erickson the deliberate attempt to bring a person forcefully to the trance state of mind may some times result in resistance from the part of the person whom you are trying to influence. To overcome this problem he developed certain techniques with which you can induce a person to hypnotism without his knowledge. He adopts different techniques known as rapport indirect suggestion and confusion to induce trance state in persons whom he wishes to influence.

Rapport is the first stage of conversational hypnosis in which the hypnotist attempts to win the affinity of the subject by listening and agreeing with what he says.  At this stage the hypnotist should agree with whatever the client or the subject opined about a particular situation. Such a step will make the client more comfortable with the hypnotist and ultimately the hypnotist can win the confidence of the client.

The second stage of conversational hypnosis is confusion. At this stage the hypnotist will attempt to confuse the issue by distracting his attention to some other issues. This stage is also known as distraction. Deliberately distract the client’s mind by distracting his thoughts to some other direction that has connection with the topic that they are discussing. The object of distracting the thoughts of the client is to relieve the mind of the client momentarily from the topic that is disturbing him. Often it may help him to find out a solution for the problem that he is facing.

In the final step known as Suggestion or proposition the hypnotist will help the client by introducing new propositions or indirect suggestions that may help the client to find a way out of the problem.
