There are plenty of hypnosis courses that are available. Hypnosis is when you have another person’s mind under your control. This is a very important method of healing the mind’s disorders. Use of hypnosis while healing people, was wrong and a big crime in the past. But this is something that psychiatrists make use of now as a very valuable tool.

If you want to hypnotise someone, you need to be trained because you are dealing with the human mind which is quite complex. You need to take the right hypnosis courses and be qualified enough to do the right job.

Getting trained on how to hypnotize someone is possible as there are certified courses for the same. When hypnotism is going on it must always be accompanied by soft music or by the sound of the waves at the beach etc. All these are very important because they are the basics towards practising hypnotism the right manner. Also you need to have a very commanding voice by which you can guide the person getting hypnotized in the right manner.

When you learn to hypnotize someone you need to be careful about what you do, because a wrong step will have you playing with somebody else mind under your control. This method should be used only under controlled circumstances. You should no what you are doing else this will cause serious troubles to occur.

All that you need to do is find the right trainer for you so that you are able to learn from personal experience how to hypnotize someone and you will be able to observe the effects. One kind of hypnosis is the conversational hypnosis where you tend to control another person through your words. What ever be the type of hypnosis that you learn, you need to be extremely careful and use it wisely.

Conversational hypnosis therapy is nothing but an attempt to use the techniques of hypnosis on a person without his knowledge and permission. As the very name suggests this type of hypnosis is normally practiced when a person is communicating or actively involved in a conversation with a person who knows the techniques of conversational hypnosis.

Conventional hypnotic therapy always requires full co operation and active involvement from the part of the subject through out the process of hypnotic therapy. He will be asked by the hypnotists to close his eyes to bring him to a trance state of mind. Then only the hypnotist will be able inject the positive thoughts that he intends to pass into the mind of the person undergoing the therapy. Conversational hypnosis on the other hand can be practiced on a person with full conscious with his eyes open. An expert in this therapy can easily bring a person to a trance state of mind without making the other aware of the attempt of the hypnotist.

It will take only a few minutes for an expert in this kind of therapy known as conversational therapy to bring a man into a trance state of mind. This quicker version of progressive relaxation practiced by the conversational hypnotists is also known as quick induction method among the psychologists.

The language to be used on a subject of conversational hypnosis should be more powerful and indirect than the language of conventional hypnosis. A conversational hypnotist should be very vigilant is using the language while he tries to hypnotise a person without his consent. The language he uses should be of such a kind that he should able to induce a quick hypnotic sleep in the subject.

The techniques of this type of hypnotic therapy can be used by any one who likes to influence the thoughts of others. It can be applied both on individuals and a group. The personality of the person who uses the techniques of conversational hypnosis has a key role to play in the success of hypnosis. He should have a powerful personality with which he can attract others to him. He should also be able to understand the character and nature of his subject from his body language. Choosing a wrong person who is not amenable to a hypnotic therapy of this nature may become a waste exercise for the person who attempts to influence him.

Mandrake the magician waves his hands and the guns in the hands of the big bad men turn into sticks. This is what hypnotism brings to mind in most people.

Hypnosis is a technique used to influence and induce a person by means of actions, words and visuals to do what he normally would not.

Conversational hypnosis is different from conventional hypnosis. Here instead of bringing the person to a trance like state, the hypnotist strikes up a simple conversation with the subject and influences the person without his knowledge. This helps to overcome any resistance to hypnotism the subject may have. This type of hypnotism is also called covert hypnotism as it is done covertly with the subject not being any wiser.

Conversational hypnosis uses specific patterns and techniques in language and suggestions to interact with the subject and find a solution to the problem being faced.  Here the subject need not be aware about bring influenced. The hypnotist using specific language patterns delves into the sub conscious of the subject without making him unconscious or fall into a trance like state.

There are three stages in conversational hypnotism. In the first stage the hypnotist builds a rapport with the person being induced. He does this by simply agreeing with whatever the person says. By empathizing he makes the client comfortable and instills confidence in himself.

The next stage is to confuse or distract the subject. With an absurd question or statement he removes the problems temporarily from the mind of his subject. This makes the client responsive to him because his subconscious is now very receptive.

The third stage is to put a proposition or suggestion which can be a solution to the problem. The hypnotist gently guides him towards the alternative with the suggestion. This helps the client to deal with the problem positively. There is a lot of power in suggestions when the recipient is in a receptive state of mind.

Conversational hypnotism is commonly employed by self help gurus and unfortunately, also by con men. But since this is usually practiced on a group rather than one to one, it is not very successful for a long period and the listener reverts back to his previous behavior. For it to be successful and bring about permanent behavioral changes the sessions should be one to one. Also it does not really work on unsure and unconfident people. It works more easily on employees rather than employers.

It is a painless and easy technique which can be used as a treatment of various disorders and behavioral problems without any side effect.

The method of inducing the persons by making direct conversation or communication is known as conversational hypnosis. It is proved to be very effective to help the patients to overcome problems such as severe pain and other difficult conditions that a person has to face in his life.

The principles of conversational hypnosis that are quite different from the concept of conventional hypnosis are first conceived by Milton Erickson. According to him the trance state that is a must for hypnosis is not some thing that it can only acquired while the hypnotist and that subject is sitting alone in a room. Men fall in to this trance state of mind several times a day while they concentrate hard on something particular.

According to Erickson the deliberate attempt to bring a person forcefully to the trance state of mind may some times result in resistance from the part of the person whom you are trying to influence. To overcome this problem he developed certain techniques with which you can induce a person to hypnotism without his knowledge. He adopts different techniques known as rapport indirect suggestion and confusion to induce trance state in persons whom he wishes to influence.

Rapport is the first stage of conversational hypnosis in which the hypnotist attempts to win the affinity of the subject by listening and agreeing with what he says.  At this stage the hypnotist should agree with whatever the client or the subject opined about a particular situation. Such a step will make the client more comfortable with the hypnotist and ultimately the hypnotist can win the confidence of the client.

The second stage of conversational hypnosis is confusion. At this stage the hypnotist will attempt to confuse the issue by distracting his attention to some other issues. This stage is also known as distraction. Deliberately distract the client’s mind by distracting his thoughts to some other direction that has connection with the topic that they are discussing. The object of distracting the thoughts of the client is to relieve the mind of the client momentarily from the topic that is disturbing him. Often it may help him to find out a solution for the problem that he is facing.

In the final step known as Suggestion or proposition the hypnotist will help the client by introducing new propositions or indirect suggestions that may help the client to find a way out of the problem.

ENTERTAINMENT hypnotists love to make hypnosis look dark and mysterious and complicated. They love to pretend that they have special powers that no-one else possesses.

I love to make things bright and clear and open, and I do not claim any special powers.

In this first chapter I am going to ask you to try out various things and to think about them. These things are simple and everyday, and will turn out to be not at all mysterious, and yet they are a foundation on which much of hypnosis is built.

Words can trigger pictures in your mind.

This must seem a pretty obvious fact. You need only think of reading a novel and remember the pictures that come to mind as you do so to realize the obvious truth of this. But it is still worth doing a little exercise on it, as follows.

First just think to yourself, “I am on holiday.” STOP NOW; did you see a picture of it in your mind? People vary, but it is unlikely, in the very short time I allowed you, that you saw anything very clearly.

Now allow yourself more TIME. Think, “I am on holiday.” Pause. “It is my favorite kind of place.” Pause. “The weather is just how I like it.” Pause. “I am wearing my favorite clothes.” Pause. “I am doing my very favorite thing.” Pause. “I am on holiday!”

In all probability that extra time was repaid by a very much more vivid picture or pictures in the mind. But it is best, especially if you are a student of

    hypnosis

, to get someone else to do the same thing, perhaps with you saying the words: “Picture yourself on holiday.” Pause. “It is your favorite kind of weather.” etc.

In this way you will discover for yourself the fact that people can have quite different degrees of clarity of picture, and the pictures themselves can be quite different. I, for example, usually manage only rather washed out images.

The conclusions I would expect you to be able to agree with, after some experience, are the following simple ones.

1) Words can lead to pictures in the mind.

2) It takes a little time for them to arise.

3) The time taken and their nature varies from person to person.

As a next little exercise explore the extent to which words can directly affect muscles without going via the usual volitional process of willing an action.

Hold your arms straight ahead of you with the palms facing each other and a couple of centimeters apart. Look at the gap and say “Close… Close… Close…” repeatedly at a comfortable speed.

A typical result is that over a period of a minute or so the hands do move together until they touch. To check this try it on other people (for students it is essential that you do). In that case you can speak the words as you both watch the hands.

In this way you will discover that there is again a range of responses. An average closure time is a couple of minutes. In some people it will happen in seconds. In others nothing seems to happen before you run out of patience. Occasionally someone will resist and there will develop a trembling in the arms as one set of muscles acts to pull the hands together and another acts to separate them. Another rarer response is for the hands to fly apart. But in each case you or your friends should find a strange feeling of things happening which are not willed.

The conclusions I would expect you to be able to agree with are the following simple ones.

1) Words can lead directly to muscular action.

2) It takes a little time for this to happen.

3) The time taken and the nature varies from person to person.

4) It makes little difference who is saying the words.

Most people vividly remember the scene in Star Wars when Obi Wan Kenobi looks into the eyes of a guard and convinces him that the three wanted fugitives right in front of him are not the people he is looking for. Wouldn’t it be great to have similar influence over people? The term conversational hypnosis suggests that we can.Of course, conversational hypnosis is not as simple as it sounds. Rather, it is a series of well-choreographed strategies and manipulations that may bring others around to your point of view.

The principles of conversational hypnosis were first conceived by the great hypnotist and psychotherapist Milton Erickson. Erickson believed that trance states were not rare occurrences that had to be elaborately induced. He believed people slip into trance states several times a day, for instance, when they are waiting for a bus or concentrating very hard on something they are reading.

Erickson also theorized that directly trying to induce a trance state in someone or trying to give them direct suggestions might lead to resistance. He preferred to use rapport, indirect suggestions, and confusion to induce trance states and influence compliance.

Rapport

The first step in conversational hypnosis is creating a rapport with the subject. This means agreeing with what they have to say. For instance, if the subject says, “There’s no way out of this,” the proper response is, “You’re right. There’s no way out.”

Confusion

The next step in conversational hypnosis is to confuse the issue. Sometimes a simple question works. “But even if there is no way out, can you be absolutely sure that a solution won’t pop into your mind in the next minute or so?”

Another technique used to create confusion in conversational hypnosis is to encourage resistance, perhaps by saying, “No one could solve that problem. It’s simply too complex. There’s absolutely no way out. You don’t have a chance…” At some point, the subject will probably start arguing with you that the problem is not so unsolvable after all!

Still another confusion technique is to suggest that the subject do more of something that isn’t working. For instance, an obese subject might be encouraged to gain weight.

Suggestion

The final step in conversational hypnosis is to make an indirect suggestion such as, “You’re feeling a bit less hopeless now, aren’t you?” or “I don’t know why, but it seems to me you look more optimistic than you did a few minutes ago.”

Needless to say, conversational hypnosis is no easy feat, and it is best left to professionals.

If you would like to know more about conversational hypnosis, several websites offer online courses on the topic. You might also try reading a clinical biography of Milton Erickson.

Covert hypnosis is the practice of inducing hypnosis during normal conversation. Unlike typical hypnosis, the subject does not fall asleep or lose control of their conscious mind. Instead they become open to suggestion which allows the hypnotist to change their feelings, opinions or behaviors. Covert hypnosis is often referred to as conversational hypnosis, for this reason. The Basics

Covert hypnosis was developed from a combination of Milton’s techniques and Neuro Linguistic Programming. Basically, covert hypnosis uses language patterns and the technique of suggestion. Covert hypnosis is different from other hypnosis because it stems upon the conversation and relationship between the hypnotist and the subject. Without that hypnosis is not covert. The subject remains conscious, but the hypnotist is able to get deep into their sub conscious just through conversation. Many times the subject will not even be aware that they are being hypnotized.

The Techniques

Covert hypnosis is done by following a simple pattern. The conversation begins and the hypnotist must pace and lead the subject. The pacing part is done by repeating back to the person what they are saying. This allows the person to begin agreeing and build the rapport between the two. After pacing the hypnotist then supplies the leading statement, which is what they are trying to get the person to believe or think. It is very important that the pacing and leading sounds casual and natural. It should not sound any different then normal conversation or else the person may pick up on what is happening.

Why it Works

Covert hypnosis all stems on building some connection between the hypnotist and the subject. They have to have that familiarity with each other so the conversation can proceed and the techniques be employed. It works because the subject is just having a conversation and is unaware they are being hypnotized which allows the hypnotist to be able to dig deeply in their sub conscious and easily plant ideas.

Covert hypnosis is to be used responsibly. It is tempting to misuse the techniques for personal gain or other unacceptable reasons. It is up to the hypnotist to act responsibly and do no harm unto others. Covert hypnosis is something that can have a very big impact, so a hypnotist must use caution and discretion. Hypnosis is a powerful tool and it is widely recognized that hypnotists have to be careful so they do not violate the rights of others.
