The History of Hypnosis

If you take a look at the history of Hypnosis, you will find that Franz Anton Mesmer is considered to be the father of modern day hypnosis. He seemed to believe that there was some type of fluid that was quasi-magnetic in the air that all of us breathe, and that the nerves in the body absorb this fluid. He would try to treat his patients in such a way to make sure that he unblocked the circulation of this fluid in the body, and when the circulation of the liquid was corrected, the disease would be cured.
 
When it comes to the history of Hypnosis, even back in the 1800's, there were many physicians that were practicing it, especially across Europe . It was used as an analgesic as well as an anesthetic before there were so many drugs available. Over time it faded out for a time, especially after Queen Victoria went with the administration of Chloroform when she had her third baby. Also, Freud was not a big fan of hypnosis either, and this also lead to the decrease in popularity of the time.


 
If you look closely at the history of hypnosis, you'll find that Freud was afraid of it being dangerous and harmful. However, today it has been discounted that hypnosis can be harmful in any way. In fact, studies today actually show that when it comes to hypnosis, there are very few risks to consider and there are fewer side effects than the most simple and safe medications.
 
Today hypnosis has become so much more than before. Instead of just being a medical treatment, it is now used as entertainment and for a variety of psychological treatments as well. Not only does hypnosis make a funny side show in today's world, but also it is used today to help people Lose Weight and even quite smoking. Looking at the history of hypnosis will show you that it has indeed come a very long way.
 
While at one time during the history of hypnosis, it because a very unpopular choice, today it has gone in a circle and come back to great popularity. You'll hear about it on the news, in television, and even in many magazines as well. Hypnosis is becoming more and more popular in today's world, and although it has not totally become main stream yet, it is well on it’s' way to doing so.
